Battery Electric Underground Mining
The MacLean Engineering EV Bolter in use with MEDATech's AltDrive Technology
MEDATECH Specialty Equipment Corporation has just launched the first of a planned trio of drive train technologies designed to eliminate or reduce emissions from fossil fuel based technologies.
The first fully electric battery powered drive was integrated and tested in a 65,000 lb GVW (29,500 kg GVW) mobile underground vehicle in collaboration with MacLean Engineering of Collingwood ON.
The drive train designed for this application has the capacity to output 200 kW and is designed to allow the vehicle (in this case a rock bolting jumbo) to operate without grid power for all of its functionality including drilling and bolting.
MEDATECH Engineering is in the process of developing a fully equipped, state of the art, testing and simulation facility for electric and alternative drive technology.
“Our objective is to develop the most efficient and safest system to get battery power to the wheels for all heavy equipment applications in industry” - Robert E. Rennie, President of MEDATECH.
