Mobile Equipment Prototyping

MEDATech Engineering’s capability includes prototyping and specialty equipment manufacturing. We have approximately 6000 square feet of assembly area equipped with custom machining and welding capabilities. The ability to address small fabrication requirements during the assembly phase for prototyping provides an efficient environment to get things done and on to the testing phase of projects. Our capabilities include specialized wiring harnesses and hydraulic hose systems and general assembly know-how. MEDATech’s state-of-the-art facility allows for  complete documentation of the assembly process.

The BORTERRA brand was developed by MEDATech Engineering Services to satisfy niche foundation drilling equipment markets.  The BORTERRA brand began with the development of the FDR-140 to drill 12 foot diameter by 60 foot deep foundations for Hydro One transmission towers.

The Centaur project was a new product development design, build & test contract for Cubex Limited in Winnipeg Manitoba. Cubex is a world leader in production of “In The Hole” drilling technology.

OPG New Generation Waste Carrier

In 2005, Ontario Power Generation contracted MEDATech Engineering Services to make major repairs to a recently commissioned nuclear waste transporter. The transporter’s hydraulic steering and braking system as well as the steering linkage had failed with minimal hours of operation. MEDATech was commissioned by OPG to redesigned and rebuild the steering and braking system.

Truck Mounted Foundation Drill – Hydro One

In 2010 MEDATechEngineering was awarded a tender to supply a custom built truck mounted foundation drill to Hydro One. This rig was to be capable of drilling large diameter holes from 4 feet to 12 feet in diameter down to 60 feet deep.

Andritz Hydro Stator Jacking System

MEDATech Specialty Equipment Corporation built the first of two stator jacking units in 2013 and delivered the second unit in early 2015. These systems are purpose built and designed to lift stator housings weighing in excess of 400,000 lbs. The control system had to provide consist and level lift at a very low flow rate.

Oil and Gas Rig

Working with Blue Rock Energy, Cubex Limited designed and built the first drilling rig for angled holes in oil and gas applications using a Schramm TXD 130. This involved the design of the sub, drilling floor, mast supporting system and pipe handling systems. MEDATech Engineering supplied the engineering expertise to Cubex as they worked closely with the Oil & Gas application expertise in CubexLtd and the Contractor Blue Rock Energy.
