About the Job
Skilled at managing projects on time, within budget and to specifications? Our Project Managers support our engineering teams to deliver innovative design and build projects for prototype equipment and mobile heavy equipment customers. Working closely with project sponsors, engineering design and production teams, you will coordinate and oversee our projects to ensure we meet customer expectations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with project stakeholders, engineering designers and production teams:
- Understand the project scope, technical statement of work, timeline, costs & budget, and delivery date to meet customer needs
- Develop and document a robust project plan, with resource requirements, detailed tasks & specific gates/milestones
- Track timely and efficient completion of all project tasks, deliverables, and project documentation for record keeping for troubleshooting, quality assurance, and warranty, etc.
- Lead regular progress meetings with the project team, stakeholders and customers for status updates and scope management, ensuring client relations are well maintained
- Monitor project cost, time and milestone data and compile the project completion status. Flag early any risks relative to budget, specifications, and the delivery date.
- Alert project stakeholders to these risks and collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Track project changes and update project budgets for cost and time impacts
- Know and reinforce company standards for design, production, quality assurance (QA), safety and regulatory compliance. Use QA results to improve project workflow, processes, and outcomes.
- Ensure project cost data is accurate and complete for accurate and timely project invoicing, project profit forecasting and financial reporting
- Complete post-project reviews after measuring project outcomes & results. Apply lessons learned so engineering and project teams improve design/build processes.
- Provide effective communication, written and verbal, with project teams and all stakeholders to keep all informed and on track throughout the project lifecycle
- Consistently use the approved PM format for managing projects, including defined work processes, templates, the PM information system, and metrics
- Continually look for ways to improve project management outcomes – streamline processes to reduce time, work effort & costs and apply lessons learned to avoid repeat issues
- Lead by behavioural example in your interactions with employees, customers and suppliers – with mutual respect, professionalism, responsive teamwork, and a focus on results for our customers and company
Required Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, computer science, business finance/administration, and/or manufacturing operations
- 5+ years’ experience in project management with increasing project size and scope responsibility, preferably in high mix low volume manufacturing and/or heavy equipment industries
- Experienced steering projects through the full life cycle with a proven record of completing projects on time, within budget and to specifications
- Naturally detailed and mathematically oriented, with proven critical & analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative and work independently to complete deliverables
- Resourceful – understand how to resolve issues and creatively adapt projects to avoid mishaps and losses
- Experienced and proficient working with PM software tools (including ERP), methodologies, metrics, and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and advanced written, verbal, and visual communication skills
- Known for professionalism, initiative, collegial and responsive teamwork
