You’ll
Do
If variety is what you crave, this is the job for you. In this position you will be delivering excellent quality design work on multiple applications, according to client specifications. You will work with Project Team Leaders to detail and meet planned build schedules, budgets, and material allowances, preparing layouts, drawings, specifications and bills of material. You will work closely with other engineering groups, as well as with the shop during builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for contributing on multiple applications within project constraints, including scope and timing, to deliver excellent quality design work according to client specifications
- Work with Project Team Leaders to detail and meet planned build schedules, budgets, and material allowances
- Responsible for
- Prepare layouts, Drawings, Specifications and bills of material
- Utilize Solidworks design suite to manage or develop wiring schematics, wiring harness drawings and panel assemblies
- Ensure compliance to various regulations and standards across multiple regions and markets
- Select and/or design components for function, cost, reliability, ad manufacturability o Interact with suppliers and support purchasing process
- Interact with various other engineering groups and disciplines within the organization o Work closely with the shop during building of equipment
- Perform test procedures on various machinery including AC motor control and HVDC systems
- Work closely with controls/software engineers and communicate associated design implications and requirements involving electrical/electronic system design o Utilize multimeters/ oscilloscopes, Controller Area Network (CAN) tools for design, assembly, and validation
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field such as electrical engineering, or similar program
- A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a similar position
- P. Eng Designation in Ontario is an asset
- Work experience in the mining or mobile equipment sector considered an asset
- Be knowledgeable of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the Canadian Electrical Code
- Understand basic wiring, motor control, PLC programming and how they communicate across machinery and link together
- Have experience in Process Controls preferred and the ability to coordinate, design, and construct moderate to large projects dealing with the electrical distribution system
- Possess a high proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
- Self-motivated and capable of taking initiative to complete tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
