We are a Canadian engineering firm specializing in the design, development and integration of engineered systems for heavy-duty mobile equipment. Since our founding in 2003, we have partnered with companies in mining, oil & gas, defense, construction and many other industries to solve complex challenges and to modernize equipment through automation and electrification.
The people of MEDATech are not just engineers, technologists and mechanics. Many of us have worked in mining and other industries where we operated the kinds of heavy equipment that we build. This has allowed us to become expert in building great machines, and in consulting on the solutions you need. Mobile Equipment Design and Automation Technology also know as “MEDATech” began as a single-person start-up in 2003. Our company has grown to include a wide range of services to a variety of industries. For the most part, our work has a common thread which is connected to heavy equipment.
The MEDATech team has extensive experience with mobile equipment design and fabrication, including the areas of mechanical system design, powertrain design, hydraulic system design and control system design. We believe that we must be industry leaders to provide professional and competitive services to our clients.

Battery-Electric & Hybrid Powertrain Systems
AltDrive builds battery-electric and hybrid diesel/electric powertrains, as well as associated systems. Powertrains are destined for OEM use in heavy equipment such as commercial trucks, tractors, excavators, buses, haul trucks, light rail, and mining machines. We also convert diesel machines to hybrid for operators who want to reduce fuel consumption, add power, increase range, extend lifespan, increase precision, and improve operator work conditions among other goals.
Specialty Drilling Solutions
Borterra delivers custom-built drilling equipment designed to maximize safety, productivity, and reliability. We specialize in the design, integration, and delivery of high-performance drill rigs, automated rod-handling systems, and purpose-built solutions for demanding underground and surface applications. As both an OEM and systems integrator, Borterra operates on a customer-driven project basis to solve complex drilling challenges through innovative engineering and strategic manufacturing.
